The 42nd Weymouth Grand Slam delivered another brilliant weekend of beach volleyball, with some blue skies, packed crowds, and top-level matches across all three days. Players from across the UK descended on Weymouth, and once again the competition didn’t disappoint. Crowds showed up in force throughout the weekend, with the Ultra Maritime-sponsored Centre Court grandstand often packed with spectators enjoying the atmosphere and high-level play.

Friday saw the qualifying rounds take place, with four teams earning their spot in the main draw. On the men’s side, Niko Gleed & Robert Thomas Kelly and Pearson Stiller & Bailey Slessor advanced. In the women’s, it was Maeve Davitt & Anna Rantala along with Anna Bempedeli & Cameron Martinez who booked their place.
Saturday featured pool play and the opening knockout rounds, with the quarter-finals and beyond playing on Sunday. Top seeds Freddie Bialokoz & Issa Batrane made a strong start to their campaign, eventually facing Gleed & Thomas Kelly in the quarter-finals, followed by a semi-final win over Dobra & Ymeraj. The women’s wildcard pair Aleksandra Wachowicz & Violeta Slabakova began their playoffs journey by knocking out fifth seeds Berštautaitė & Tussis, then overcame the Scottish second seeded pair Beattie & Wallace in the quarters, before defeating third seeds Sviridova & Tokarenko in a very close three-set semi-final.
The bronze medal matches delivered some great contests. In the women’s event, Sviridova & Tokarenko beat sixth seeds Kurek & Fiļa in straight sets, 21–19, 21–11. In the men’s, Jan-Joost van den Bogert & Cole Durant battled past Dobra / Ymeraj in a tight three-set clash, winning 22–20, 14–21, 15–13.
In the women's final, Wachowicz & Slabakova claimed their first Weymouth title in their debut appearance, defeating top seeds Alice Jagielska & Kirsty Star in two narrow sets, 23–21, 21–19. In the men’s final, Bialokoz & Batrane faced Harry Jones & Dalton Bunde in a rematch from pool play. Jones & Bunde took the opening set 21–17, but Bialokoz & Batrane responded with control and composure, taking the next two sets 21–19, 15–7 to secure another Weymouth title.

Players of the Tournament were awarded to Freddie Bialokoz and Aleksandra Wachowicz for their standout performances across the weekend. Issa Batrane was also inducted into the Weymouth Hall of Fame after securing his fifth career title at the event.
Huge thanks to all the players, staff, volunteers and supporters who made the event possible, and to headline sponsors We Are Weymouth and Ultra Maritime, as well as tour sponsors Wilson and dryrobe for their continued support.
We cant wait for what next year brings!
